About Me
My Mission and Vision
Mission Statement:
I aim to inspire a passion for science in children through the use of the scientific method to experiment, create, and engineer big ideas. Lifelong learning starts with an engaging and fun learning environment where it is okay to make mistakes. I want to create a space where all children feel comfortable being themselves while they learn and grow.
Vision Statement:
I will be recognized as a leader in informal science learning and as a leader for the advocacy of accessibility in informal learning programs. I will be a voice to uplift those who have traditionally been excluded from informal learning spaces and I will be an advocate for the museum’s mission.
My Guiding Principles
Diversity:
Museums need diverse perspectives to represent their audiences and serve their needs. We must decolonize museums.

Equity:
All people should be able to walk through museum doors and see themselves in the museum.

Accessibility:
Museums must work towards a Universal Design model to ensure that the museum can be for people of all abilities.

Inclusion:
Museums are places for all people, and should represent this in the galleries, programming, and staffing.

Community:
Museums have a responsibility to both collaborate with and serve the communities around them.
​
Lifelong Learning:
Learning should be fun at any age. You are never the wrong age to experiment and grow.
Hands-on, Object Based Learning
Museums have the unique opportunity to educate with real artifacts and tools. I have a passion for teaching learners of all ages, and making science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) approachable and fun.
I encourage messy exploration and learning through "failure" at all ages. You cannot make improvements until you have made something to improve from.
Collections Care and Object Based Learning
While working with collections in a small museum, I was able to learn to care for objects while also utilizing them in programming.
Graduate Research and Awards
I am currently working with Dr. Soo Hyeon Kim to conduct grant funded research focused on increasing engineering and makers programs in rural libraries.

In April I received an Elite 50 award from IUPUI, which is an award for graduate students who go above and beyond in the areas of community and campus engagement, and well as scholarly research. I was additionally given the Premier 10 award, which is given to the top students chosen from the Elite 50.
